Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mats are non-woven fabrics consisting of randomly distributed chopped strands held together with a powder or emulsion binder. Our Irbis® Chopped Strand Mat is compatible with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy and phenolic resins. The products are most widely used in hand lay-up process and can also be used in filament winding, compression molding and continuous laminating processes. The typical end-use applications include various panels, boats, FRP roof shoot, automotive parts, bathroom equipment and cooling towers.
Our Irbis® Chopped Strand Mats are available in basic weights up to 900 g/m2 and in widths from 200 mm to 2600 mm.
FEATURES AND PRODUCT BENEFITS
- Uniform density ensures consistent fiberglass content and mechanical properties of the composites products.
- Uniform powder distribution ensures good mat integrity, little loose fibers and small roll diameter.
- Excellent flexibility ensures good mold ability with no spring back at sharp corners.
- Fast and consistent wet-out speed resins and rapid air release reduce resin consumption, improving manufacturing costs, productivity and mechanical properties of the end products.
- The composite products have high dry and wet tensile strength and good transparency.
